BIOGRAPHY
Mr. Mitchell graduated from Colgate University in 1988 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in English. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from University of San Francisco in 1994. He has practiced as a medical malpractice defense attorney since 1994. In that time, he has defended health care providers from a wide range of medical disciplines, including orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, pulmonologists, internists, ob/gyns, pathologists, emergency physicians, family practitioners, cardiologists, general surgeons, radiologists, pediatricians, physical therapists and nurses, as well as hospitals and nursing homes. Mr. Mitchell has tried as lead and second chair over twenty-five trials in his fourteen year career. As a partner at LeClairRyan, P.C., from January 2005 to June 2008, he won every case he tried there as lead counsel (seven) with three of his defense verdicts being named one of the Top Defense Verdicts in the Commonwealth by Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly (two in 2006 and one in 2007). He was an associate with Wilson Elser from 2001-2004.
