BIOGRAPHY

Ms. Silverman received her law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.  She is admitted to the Bars of the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Ms Silverman joined Rawls, McNelis & Mitchell in December of 1999, specializing in medical malpractice litigation.  Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Silverman was a highly accomplished registered nurse.  She was a critical care nurse experienced in all aspects of adult critical care, ranging from open heart surgery, emergency nursing, surgical intensive care and heart transplant.

Ms. Silverman has extensive litigation experience representing hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, and nurses.  She has first and second chaired several trials to defense verdicts.  She successfully negotiated favorable settlements on behalf of medical providers.  Additionally, she successfully defended numerous § 1983 civil rights claims brought against health care providers.  Virginia Lawyers Weekly recognized her for having top defense verdicts in 2005 and 2010.
